Aspire Brightens Our Day
Mrs. Boswell and her Aspire after school class inspire us. The kids wanted to give cards and donuts to the employees at the Sheriff’s Office. They brought them to the Sheriff’s Office today.
Thank you very much for the great cards and treats, and for your support!
The cards will he posted by the coffee maker to ensure the deputies see them. Mrs. Boswell and her students remind us who we do this job for: the kids and our community.
Halloween Candy Donation
The Sheriff’s Office would like to say “Thank You!” for a very generous donation of Halloween candy. The candy will be given out to the children of Oglethorpe County on October 31 at various events around the county. Times and locations will be announced soon. Stay tuned….
Comer Road Closed
Comer Road is shutdown at the Madison County line due to a vehicle accident. Please avoid the area.

Elberton Road Shut Down
Be advised the northbound lane of traffic on Elberton Rd is shut down at this time due to an auto accident. Please seek an alternate route and drive safely.

Medical Helicopter Landing
There will be a medical helicopter entering our county shortly for a medical emergency.
Controlled Burn
The forestry service is doing a controlled burn on Hargrove Lake Road near Beaverdam Road.
Crawford Smithonia Paving
Crews are resurfacing Crawford Smithonia Road between Hargrove Lake Road and Bunker Hill Road. There is one lane closed, and they are making use of a pilot car. Expect delays, or seek an alternate route.
Golden Pantry Accident
Our deputies are responding to a vehicle accident in the area of the Lexington Golden Pantry. Please avoid the area. Seek an alternate route if possible.
Hiring Communications Officer
We are accepting applications for a Communications Officer/911 dispatcher.
This opening is for a night shift position, 7pm-7am. The deadline for applications is October 7th.
